Why This Tour is an Absolute Gem!
So, what makes this particular Port Stephens tour stand out from the rest?
First off, the company behind it, 호주무한투어 (Australia Unlimited Tour), is seriously impressive.
They actually won the Gold Award at the WSTA2025 (Western Sydney Tourism Awards), a first for a Korean travel agency!
And with over 15,000 reviews by November 2025, you know they're doing something right.
But beyond the accolades, it's the experience itself that truly shines.
We started our day with a thrilling Dolphin Cruise in Port Stephens.
Seeing those wild dolphins playfully swimming alongside the boat was pure magic!
And yes, there's even a buffet meal onboard, making the experience even more delightful.
Then, the adventure really kicked in with the 4WD sandboarding at Anna Bay.
Zooming across the vast natural desert on a 4WD, then grabbing a board and sliding down those massive dunes?
It's an absolute blast for all ages!
We even visited a local winery for some wine tasting, which was a lovely, relaxed break.
What I loved most was the flexibility.
This isn't a one-size-fits-all trip.
You can customize it with options like Oakvale Farm (a fantastic alternative since Morisset Park closed), quad biking, or even visiting The Entrance for Pelican Feeding.
They even took us to our secret lunch spot, which felt incredibly special and exclusive.
Plus, they offer some sweet perks like Paw Paw and Lanolin creams, a free wine for honeymooners, and duty-free discounts.
It truly felt like a VIP experience designed just for us.
Your Perfect Day: The Detailed Itinerary
Let me walk you through what a typical day on this fantastic tour looks like.
Just a heads-up, flexibility is key, so your exact times might vary a little.
The day kicks off bright and early with a convenient pick-up around 7:00 AM from your accommodation.
We then embarked on a scenic drive, about 180 minutes, heading towards Nelson Bay, the gateway to our dolphin adventure.
Around 10:30 AM, we boarded the Dolphin Cruise.
This 90-minute cruise is a must-do, offering incredible opportunities to spot wild dolphins while enjoying a buffet or a custom meal.
After our delightful cruise, we headed to 호주무한투어's secret lunch point around 12:00 PM for a delicious 60-minute lunch break.
It was a charming spot that felt truly exclusive.
Next up, the adrenaline-pumping 4WD and Sandboarding!
Around 1:30 PM, we hopped into a 4WD vehicle at Birubi Beach.
This took us across vast sand dunes to the sandboarding area for about 60 minutes of pure fun.
Seriously, flying down those dunes is an experience you won't forget.
Around 2:30 PM, for those who chose it, we enjoyed a relaxing 60-minute Wine Tasting session at a local winery.
It's a great opportunity to sample some Australian wines and even pick up a bottle or two.
For those interested in wildlife, an optional stop at Oakvale Farm followed around 3:30 PM for 90 minutes.
This is a fantastic place to interact with Australian animals, and it’s become a popular alternative.
(Just remember, there's an additional entrance fee for Oakvale Farm.)
Finally, we began our journey back to Sydney, arriving between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, feeling wonderfully exhausted and full of incredible memories.
Remember, the schedule can be adjusted for options like quad biking, The Entrance, or Pelican Feeding if arranged beforehand!
Where is This Paradise? (Location Guide)
So, where exactly is this amazing place called Port Stephens?
It's a stunning large natural harbor located about 160 kilometers northeast of Sydney.
To give you a better idea, that's roughly a 3-hour drive from the city center.
The journey itself is quite scenic, slowly transitioning from urban landscapes to the beautiful, rugged Australian coast.
Our main starting point for the dolphin cruise was Nelson Bay, a charming coastal town within the Port Stephens region.
This is where the marine adventures truly begin!
For the exhilarating 4WD and sandboarding experience, we headed to Anna Bay, specifically Birubi Beach.
This area is famous for its massive sand dunes that seem to stretch endlessly, creating a truly unique desert-like landscape right by the ocean.
The winery visits are typically in the surrounding Port Stephens area, which boasts some lovely vineyards.
Oakvale Farm, if you choose to visit, is also conveniently located within the Port Stephens region, making it easy to incorporate into the day's itinerary.
Essentially, you're venturing out of the bustling city to a coastal haven known for its pristine waters, abundant wildlife, and adventurous terrain.
It’s definitely a journey worth taking to experience a different side of New South Wales.
Pro Tips & Must-Pack Essentials!
To make sure your Port Stephens adventure goes as smoothly as mine did, here are a few pro tips and essential packing items!
First, if you're traveling with little ones, remember that children aged 48 months to 6 years require a car seat.
Make sure to mention their exact age when booking so the tour operator can arrange everything for you.
Also, a quick note about the weather: tours run rain or shine!
Australia's weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared for anything.
The tour operator cannot be held responsible for weather-related issues, so embrace the adventure, whatever the sky brings!
What to pack?
Sunscreen is an absolute non-negotiable, especially for the cruise and sandboarding, as the sun can be quite strong.
A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses will also be your best friends.
Comfortable walking shoes are a must, especially for moving around on the boat and exploring the sand dunes.
Don't forget your camera or phone to capture all those amazing dolphin sightings and sandboarding thrills!
A light jacket or windbreaker is also a good idea, as it can get breezy on the water or in the open dunes, even on a warm day.
And for the adventurous, if you think you might want to dip your toes, maybe pack a small towel and some swimwear, just in case!
Lastly, bring your sense of humor and adventure!
This trip is all about making fantastic memories.
My Unforgettable Port Stephens Adventure!
You know those trips that just stick with you?
My recent Port Stephens VIP tour was exactly that kind of unforgettable experience.
From the moment we set off, I knew we were in for something special.
The diverse activities truly amazed me.
Starting with a local cafe visit, then witnessing wild dolphins leap and play during the cruise, exploring a charming winery, and finally, the absolute rush of sandboarding – it was a perfect blend of excitement and relaxation.
My mother, who isn't usually one for extreme sports, even enjoyed the sandboarding tremendously!
Seeing her laugh and cheer truly made my heart happy.
But beyond the incredible sights and thrills, what truly elevated this trip was our guide, Ahn Hyung-jun.
He wasn't just a guide; he was a friend who made sure every moment was enjoyable and smooth.
His local insights, friendly demeanor, and quick, helpful responses to all our questions (and trust me, I had a few!) were simply outstanding.
It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to ensuring everyone has a fantastic time.
I honestly don't know when I'll have the chance to revisit Sydney, but if I do, I would absolutely love to book another tour with him.
This trip created such wonderful, lasting memories, and I can't recommend it enough!
